Electromagnetic Fields Free Seminar

Much is talked of the possible dangers of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) in both personal and professional life and the media have delighted in reporting numerous stories over the years. But what is the current situation and what does this mean for business.

In this seminar, we will set out the background to the subject and will look at the impending regulations, based on the EU Directive covering the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (electromagnetic fields), due to come into force in 2016!

Will your business be affected?

Bluntly, YES.

All employers will be subject to the conditions set out in the ‘EMF' Directive. It is up to you to determine if your business activities are creating significant EMFs or not. The HSE may be able to assist and approve some activities to be exempt from the Directive.

If your business activities are eventually deemed to be exempt, are you in the clear? NO. It will only take one member of staff, or a visitor, to have a medical implant for the assessment process to start over.

You may expect that it will only be Industrial and some Commercial business activities that fall within the scope of the Directive, but can you say a simple office environment is perfectly safe for a person with a medical implant?

A number of companies are ahead of the game and have already identified their activities, assessed the implications and found solutions. Most have not.

What will the seminar look like?

This seminar will be split into 3 main sections, we will look at the current state of research on the subject of the potential for harm from EMFs; We will also provide an overview of the EU Directive and the potential state of the UK regulations when they arrive. Finally we will look at the instrumentation and how you can measure and assess the levels of EMFs and what you might be able to do about it in terms of controlling exposure without alarming staff.
